Steve is currently CIO at Clark Hill PLC, a full service law firm serving clients in all areas of business legal services, government and public affairs and personal legal services. As CIO, he leads all information technology services within the law firm, supporting operations in 12 offices across 8 states.
Steve was recruited to bring structure and stability to the Information Technology team and to prepare the team to support the planned growth of the firm. He brought structure to work by introducing a formal change control process, an SLA-based help desk, and a robust project management methodology maximizing utilization of staff resources. Additionally, Steve drove the re-platforming of Clark Hill’s technical training to a distance-learning model.
Under Steve’s leadership, the IT team modernized the firm’s network infrastructure across all offices, implementing redundant voice and data services. The firm’s computing platform was virtualized and flash storage was introduced to improve the performance of key applications. Redundant data center environments were consolidated and applications resulting from multiple mergers and acquisitions were rationalized for best fit.
Web and mobile apps were introduced to enhance staff productivity and client revenue opportunities. Business intelligence tools and personalized dashboards were introduced, bringing transparency to individual, practice group, and firm performance. Steve envisioned and led the development of a “next generation” portal for a personalized user experience and the automation of administrative and departmental tasks.
A Cyber Security initiative was launched based on SANS CIS Critical Security Controls (CSCs) to improve the firm’s security posture and reduce the risk of cyber threats to critical assets, data, and network infrastructure.
Steve has previously managed teams in over 20 countries and directed multiple data suppliers, sourcing, cleansing, and publishing data for 47 countries on six continents. He has worked as an individual consultant and has led teams as large as 150.
